7 for seven

7forseven_key-and-arrowLet’s face it // Mondays stink. Or at least we typically expect them to stink. That is why, every Monday, I post seven positives from the previous seven days of the week as a reminder of what I have so that the week starts out on an upswing. There is much truth in the belief that happy people attract good things, so it is important to start the week out right. Sometimes it’s the more grand, but other times, it’s the simple things.

1. FroYo. I’ve been craving fro-yo with fresh fruit since the beginning of summer, and I finally decided to just go for it. I deserve it.  Only when I went for it, I opted for gummy bears instead. My daydreams were a little more healthy.  I wonder what Carl Jung would say.

2.Window Shopping. After a shameful night of accidentally drinking an entire bottle of wine, all on my own, and eating random frozen food in my parents’ fridge, I was happy to meet my sister for a green smoothie the next day. {Side Note: I love a green smoothie just like the next person, but if one more person posts an Instagram picture thinking their green smoothie looks magically unlike any other and that everyone needs to see it, I will… absolutely nothing will happen, but I had to get that out.}  After slurping our smoothies, and not taking a picture of them, we went shopping. I can’t believe I went to Nordstrom’s big yearly sale and did not buy a thing. So proud of myself.

3. On-Line Shopping. So not proud of myself. Just like with food, deprivation will only lead to gorging a day later. Oops. It was fun while it lasted, justifying back-to-school-shopping {I do this every summer}, but now I’m quietly tip-toeing backwards and tucking my credit card back into my wallet. And putting a padlock on it.
4. Dinner & Good Company. A co-worker who had to make a tough choice for her and her family and left our school this year, invited me and our other team member to dinner Wednesday night. It was nice to know that although we will no longer be coworkers, we can still remain friends.  It was good to catch up over wine and shared appetizers, and you know, see another human being again.

5. My Love Affair w/ Eggs. If you’ve followed my posts at all this year, you might have noticed a change in my love affair with food pictures and their lack of meat. I cut out meat, cheese, and eggs several months ago for health reasons {not moral ones — oh, no, I’m a born and bred red-meat-eatin’ Texan}. However, I’ve decided recently to add back eggs more often, and I forgot what I was missing. Apparently, I’ve now become an egg.
6. Twitter. I’ve joined Twitter. I know, you are probably thinking… duh, you did that a long time ago. Who am I kidding?  No one knew.  I’ve never been good with social media.  However, all I did was open an account and attach my blog feed to it. For some reason, Twitter intimidates me. Sometimes, I feel as though I’m decoding a foreign language when reading a tweet. I was what you might call a Twitter-voyeur. My school has recently shown more of an interest in using Twitter as a classroom tool, so I’ve joined the ranks of active-Twitterers. 7. Oh Dear. The thing about being alone again that bothers me the most is the lack of noise. Alright, after thinking about it some more, maybe it’s not the number one thing, but it’s up there.  The lack of sound is deafening and inspires, well, accidentally drinking a bottle of wine and eating random contents in my parents’ freezer. However, I realized that I’ve over-compensated and when I turn on the TV for noise, I’ve become a bit of a couch-potato. I refuse to waste my summer in front of cable-less-antanae-less-television. I’ve watched more Judge Judy than I’d like to admit. So I’ve deemed weekends to be TV-less.  It was nice to sit outside drinking my cup of coffee and hanging out with my dear friends {see what I did there}.  The weather was beautiful the past couple of days, and for once, I was happy to take in only the sound of wind… oh, and the ring-tailed cat run around between the floor boards and the ceiling {I’ll save that for the next time}.

I hope to inspire you to reflect on all you have to be grateful & that your week brings you even more positivity + balance + bliss!  Feel free to share your seven with us as well / or even just a couple!

Have a wonderful week!

xo,

Darlin’
